Byzantine Diamond

In this fun chainmail class, instructor Colin Mahler teaches a variation on the classic Byzantine chain pattern. This design has you doubling all the rings, giving you a piece that has great movement and is still very elegantly weighty. These segments are 3/4" long and can be made into earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and pendant pieces. Grab your pliers, and let's get started!

This class has a run time of 20 minutes.

This is a very fun class! I was happy to see Colin's tricks of persistence and manipulation of pliers to work the tight fitting rings. I had thought I was the only one that struggled with tight fits. I loved the simplicity of the design as well as the versatility. The byzantine chain seems so suited to many variations of design. As usual, Colin's teaching style is straight forward and so easy to follow. Thank you!

Wonderful class. I've been doing chainmaile for many years and was happy to add this design to my work. I WISH I'd had you to teach me the Byzantine link back when I started. It would have gone much more smoothly than it did. Your instructions are brief (but inclusive) and you make it easy to follow. Thank you!

This is the first chainmaile class that I have had NO PROBLEM understanding. Colin is great at explaining and the videographer was great to keep the camera close and in focus to see every move...if this was in a magazine, I never would have been able to follow. This was wonderful and I thank you for sharing your expertise. Again THANK YOU!

I love following the tutorials but I must say that I found this extremely difficult. I could not grab hold of the links to make the corners and also was not sure which links were being grabbed.

Love these tutorials ,but this one was impossible to finish the corners of the squares with ring sizes called for in the pattern. Please revise. The design is really cool.
Beaducation Replied:

Note from Colin: If you fine you are having a difficult time with the corners...try using 4mm rings instead of the 3.5mm.

Very instructional and clear. Is there any way the video parts can be put together for more continuity in watching?
