I have worked with wood saws of many types and know a lot about wood cutting. Cutting metal is new to me. I have used tin snips and wire cutters. The extent of the clear instruction on the preparation and use of this type of saw was very valuable. I particularly appreciated the tips on making the turn in direction on the cut. Very helpful! Thank you!

I was very intimidated by the jewelry saw. However, after watching/listening to Kate's concise instructions, I was able to saw a metal sheet with ease. Thanks Kate!

I am so impressed with the videos on this site. This and all the others I have viewed are so easy to follow for beginners and I am sure they are great refreshers for the experience Metal Jewelry designers. I will be referring this website to all my art friends. Thank you!

I too, was very intimidated by the jeweler's saw and resorted to using metal snips most of the time. This video explained a lot of things that previously were unclear. Thanks so much! Can't wait to try it out.

Good job. Wish you had shown cutting circles, too.

Aisha demonstrates sawing around a curve in the free class, Sawing Your Own Metal Shapes. A disc cutter or the Power Punch Pliers might be good alternatives, depending on your project.

What a great video. Learned so much as I'm preparing to start cutting my own shapes. I love all the tips.

Do you have examples of where and why you would use hand cut pieces in jewelry? What types of shapes can we see and how are they being embellished?
Beaducation Replied:
Often a designer needs a specific shape or size that doesn't already exist as a pre-made blank, or they are working on a different type of project, like creating a Tab Set Pendant. Check out the next sawing class, Sawing Your Own Metal Shapes, about creating irregular shapes.

I've had my jeweler's saw for some time and have watched the video a couple of times but still was not confident. Tonight I used my saw along with Kate's video and with her clear instructions and following along step by step, I have to say it was not that hard at all. I am looking forward to the video Sawing Your Own Metal Shapes next. Many thanks for the great tutorial!

I appreciate how Kate broke down all the steps for getting ready to saw. I am almost ready to start cutting my own shapes. I am sure I will refer back to this video multiple times.

This is the video to watch if you want to learn how to use your bench pin and jewelers saw to saw metal. I had no clue how to use either and am amazed at how easily they are to use with the directions on this video. Now I am looking for things to saw! Eventually I will be doing shapes, yeah!!
