We have added this new 5mm x 1mm Sterling flat wire as a lighter, less expensive alternative to the 5mm x 1.5mm wire. Because it is .5mm thinner, it is much lighter, resulting in a smaller price. You don't notice the rounded edge (see below) as much in this thinner wire.
This wire is great for making links, long pendants, or bangle bracelets.
I have this sterling silver wire custom made for me with rounded edges (lengthwise). When this wire is made into a bangle, the rounded edges give the bracelet a more finished look. This wire is dead soft, which works well with stamping, but it is quite thick so it naturally has a bit of hardness. The stamping and shaping harden it enough to stay stiff in a nice cuff or bangle shape.
I made my first bracelet with this and it turned out very nice. It looks very dainty and feels good.
I have used this to make cuff bracelets. They are thick enough to stamp and bend for perfect sized bracelets. I've also cut it into smaller strips to make ID bracelets.
Used this to make a ring shank. Worked out very well!
I love this product. I have used it for ring shanks, bangle bracelets and even earrings!
Love this flat wire, I used it to make a ring that turned out really well stamped and soldered nicely. Very pleased with this wire.
This makes for some quick and easy but also classy cuff bracelets! 3mm alphabet stamps are just perfect to add a phrase.
Although I did like working with this I wasn't too thrilled with the unstableness of the cuff it's just too thin for my liking. Whenever the edge of the cuff got caught on something it would open it up.. it's just a little too flimsy for me and I could not get it to work harden hard enough to keep it from bending . It's just not a thick enough gauge in my opinion for a cuff a bangle possibly because there is no edge to get caught on things. Perfect for earrings . I might end up cutting my cuff into long strips to make some earrings There is texture and liver of sulfur so they are pretty
