- We like to use a leather sandbag under our bench block when stamping, chasing and forming.
- Slip resistant.
- Helps to deaden the blow and sound when striking a piece of metal.
- Pairs great with the 2.5" x 2.5" bench block.

I purchased this specifically to stamp rings with my ring mandrel laying on the sandbag. After stamping the first several letters I was loving it... so much easier than using a vice and having to tighten and loosen the clamp each time I want to turn the ring more to stamp. Then on my last letter, the heavy weight of the mandrel (because this size sandbag is too small to support the long mandrel) forced where I was stamping to raise and the letter I was stamping was misplaced... It was hard to hold the mandrel in place so that it wouldn't raise the top where I was stamping. Basically, I should have purchased the bigger sandbag for this purpose. My only regret. Can't criticize the product for that though as it was my mistake. :) My advice if wanting to use this to stamp rings, purchase the bigger size! Why didn't I think of that before. :) Seems to be a great product though and makes stamping rings easier/quicker!
On a side note: I did try it out to stamp regular blanks, using it as a base for my metal block and was pleasantly surprised at how stable it was and how well it held my metal block in place. I wasn't expecting that. I think I will be using it from now on as my rubber block I usually use is starting to get a bit too slippery after having used it a couple of years. Glad I tried it out! :)
I wish I had known how much I would LOVE this, because I would have purchased the larger one!
I purchased it specifically for stamping rings, because my current setup was bouncing too much. With a steel mandrel, this is perfect!!! I don't even touch my other device now. I've also used it with one of my smaller bench blocks, and it really muffles out the sound.
Great little sandbag! I have this one and the purple one and use both equally (depending on the size of my space). I like to use this small one at shows to stamp on-site. Great quality.
I am so happy with my purchase! Until now I've used a bench block with rubber bottom and I was happy with it. Although I didn't need to worry about too much noise, I purchased the sand bag when it was on sale. I guess I really liked the teal color and couldn't resist ;-D
My work got a little better noise wise, but I am amazed how much the stamping itself improved! Impressions are clearer with less force, and there is some kind of softness in the way a stamp hits blanks. I love it! The sand bag is amazingly useful AND it looks beautiful in my work space.
So happy I found this! I Love Love Love it and the color is Fab!
