Fretz 1.5lb Stamping Hammer, Brass and Steel Face
Face Size- 35mm (1.38")
Total length - 230mm (9")
This Stamping Hammer is used to strike stamps and steel tools when a strong impact is needed. The brass end will not mar the stamp while the steel end will strike with more force when that is desired.
This hammer has a very solid feel as a steel rod runs through the padauk wood handle.
The brass face is replaceable and easy to remove with the included allen wrench.
We carry this hammer in 3 sizes (weights) as well as replacement heads. View them here.
This is my first Fretz hammer and I love it! Its the perfect weight to stamp those difficult impressions, but also light enough that you don't necessarily need to switch back to a 1# hammer. It feels great in my hand and swings so easily. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the screw that tightens down the brass head comes loose periodically and I've had the head come flying off and smashed my finger. I heard you can apply plumbers tape to the screw to help with that, however, my husband really tightened the screw with the Allen wrench that comes with it and its been ok for a couple weeks. I still highly recommend this hammer.
I wish I had gotten this a long time ago!! (when Beaducation started selling it)
It stamps so beautifully. The weight is amazing! I did have to tighten the screw tighter, but haven’t had a problem with it loosening since.
Love it!!!!!! It’s my go to hammer.
What can I say other than it’s a Fretz... that pretty much sums it up. This was my missing link to finalize my set of all 3 of these new hammers. I didn’t think I’d need the middle one and figured I’d get by just fine with the number 1 & 3, the largest and smallest. I’m loving the #2 medium. I use them all pretty evenly. I like the feel of these a lot better than the older Fretz square block hammer.
