Soldered Circle Ring
Ah the joy of using a pre-made ring band! Using this ring saved me so much time. It's exactly what I needed for this design. Here are the steps I took to construct this beauty.
- Metal stamp the Sterling circle. In this case I used a 1" 24 gauge circle. 3/4" down to 1/2" sizes work great too. If you don't want the impressions to show on the back then use a thicker gauge. I did anneal my circle first because I wanted very deep impressions.
- Bend the circle using the Nylon Jaw Ring Bending Pliers. This will form the circle to fit on the ring perfectly. You may have to do a little extra or less bending depending on the size of your ring. If it's not bending nicely, anneal it again.
-
Solder the bent circle to the ring. I used paste solder so it would stick and stay exactly where I wanted it to.
-
Pickle, oxidize, polish, tumble. I had to do some polishing on the inside with my silicone bits to get rid of that black by the band (honestly I think I used super super old paste, but it worked, just had to buff out the gunk).
