Soldered Circle Ring

Ah the joy of using a pre-made ring band! Using this ring saved me so much time. It's exactly what I needed for this design. Here are the steps I took to construct this beauty.
  1. Metal stamp the Sterling circle. In this case I used a 1" 24 gauge circle. 3/4" down to 1/2" sizes work great too. If you don't want the impressions to show on the back then use a thicker gauge. I did anneal my circle first because I wanted very deep impressions.
  2. Bend the circle using the Nylon Jaw Ring Bending Pliers. This will form the circle to fit on the ring perfectly. You may have to do a little extra or less bending depending on the size of your ring. If it's not bending nicely, anneal it again.
  3. Solder the bent circle to the ring. I used paste solder so it would stick and stay exactly where I wanted it to.
  4. Pickle, oxidize, polish, tumble. I had to do some polishing on the inside with my silicone bits to get rid of that black by the band (honestly I think I used super super old paste, but it worked, just had to buff out the gunk).
